The Sinister Horror Company are proud to reveal the covers of two forthcoming titles, The Unheimlich Manoeuvre Deluxe Edition and Unheimlich Manoevures In The Dark, both by Irish horror writer, Tracy Fahey, which will be released on Friday 13th March 2020.

Nominated for a British Fantasy Award for Best Collection in 2017, The Unheimlich Manoeuvre has been described as ‘a modern-day gothic whose Kafkaesque otherworldly stories are beautifully disturbing’ (Lol Tolhurst, musician and author of bestselling Cured), ‘a worthy addition to any reader’s collection, especially those who enjoy quiet, literary writing with dark undertones’ (Paul Michaels, This Is Horror), and ‘the best collection of horror shorts I’ve read this year - it’s convincing, gripping, chilling and filled with a wonderfully macabre imagination’ (Oliver Clarke, SciFi and Scary). Two of its stories, ‘Walking The Borderlines,’ and the ‘That Thing I Did’ have appeared in Ellen Datlow’s Honourable Mentions for The Year’s Best Horror volumes.
Since the initial release of this collection in 2016 Tracy Fahey has continued to work on the theme of the domestic uncanny. Fahey, who holds a PhD on the Gothic, remains deeply influenced by the literary tradition of female Gothic forged by Shirley Jackson and Charlotte Gilman Perkins. The dark home remains a preoccupation in her writing. She explains: ‘I’m fascinated by quiet horror that arises from the mundane; terror that reveals itself as horribly familiar—slippage of self, disturbing revelations about loved ones, everyday routines disturbed. And where better to explore this disruption than within where we feel safest—the home?’

Expanded from the original, the deluxe edition of The Unheimlich Manoeuvre is a gorgeous hardback featuring nineteen stories of the uncanny, with five additional tales, three of them original to this volume, an additional essay, ‘Creative Evocations of Uncanny Domestic Spaces, story notes on all tales, a screen-print by the author and a further explanation of the last story, ‘Looking For Wildgoose Lodge.’
Unheimlich Manoeuvres in the Dark is a 100-page chapbook collecting all of the additional content from the deluxe edition- designed for those that have already purchased an original version of The Unheimlich Manoeuvre.
